Went to the edmonds pier last night about 11pm ish, fished till about 12:30. Jigged for squid with some others who had Lights they were catching a few and most were small. I didnt catch any squid. When they packed up I mooched off the pier and caught this amazing looking fish.

Hemilepidotus hemilepidotus

Took 3 pics and put him back. That was the only action I had, but still, Isnt he amazing looking? Never know what your going to catch in the ocean.

used to catch those down around the Tacoma Narrows bridge. Edible, but very little meat on them and pretty tough to clean.

I threw Him back, he was pretty small maybe 8 inches or so, but amazing looking. Are they more rare now than they used to be?

Looks to me you've caught an Irish Lord a member of the sculpin family. They have kind of a t type bone structure, very little meat and skin that will dull your knife in a heart beat.......still it's fun to catch something!!
