Launched from Shilshole at daylight for my salmon tune-up. Its nice to be able to get all the bugs out before the rat race of summer begins. We fished Jeff Head through the morning tide, Fishing depths from 80-150. The area was infested with 3 inch baitfish. So much that my Garmin could not penetrate to see the bottom at times. Several times, I lowered my gear below the baitfish and hooked up with True Cod (Nice to see them making a comeback). As the tide and salad started moving, I decided to run to Richmond Beach. Within 10 mins i'm hooked up with an 8-10lb Blackmouth whitch came un-pinned as the flasher broke the water. Shortly thereafter I'm hooked up again. This one started peeling line. Remember working the bugs out? 20 feet from the boat, the awesome mid-teen Nook zigs when I zag and my line broke. Thats what I forgot to do......New line on all the reels ,duh! Ran back to Jeff to fish the noon tide and was finally able to slip a 10lb blackmouth into the rubber knotless net. I know it's really early, but I'm pumped about a 3 fish day in early june......Can't wait for july!!!!!!

Thanks for the great report! That is quiet exciting, and making me want to head out there now! Shilshole is a great spot for me to slip some time in in the morning before heading off to work. What did you have behind your flasher? Color?

was using green/red stripe hot spot and army truck coho killer. Usually i run into lots of shakers......only hooked one 8" coho. I was a little perplexed.
