My girlfriend and I soaked two pots from 12:30-3:00 pm (low tide was 2 pm). We pulled both pots twice. We caught six red rocks and two dungeness. We kept two male red rocks (5.25", 6") and both dungies (6.25", 6.75"). For bait we were using a steelhead carcass in one pot, and pureed geoduck entrails and a surfperch carcass in the other. The geoduck entrails got 7 of the 8 crabs! The steelhead attracted one small red rock. Both pots were somewhat near each other at the mouth of Nisqually. Pots were 60'-90' deep.

Picture 2: We made a "crab pot." Crab, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes boiled in Old Bay! Best I've eaten in awhile!

Crabs always seem to prefer shellfish as bait. I find that leaving a bit of the bait out for the crab to tear up helps quite a bit in attracting more crab. I use small perch, suckers and pike minnows and hang them with a bait pin from the top of the trap. There is a trick to keeping crab from wander off, just flip them on their backs and they will "go to sleep".
