Sorry for the late post! Hit the water about 6am and stayed till about 3pm. Tossed out the crab pots and managed to at least get our limits there. Jammed up and down Dash PT to Dumas Bay looking for toppers... just a bunch of small schooling fish but nothing biting below... i think the boat scared them. Caught two pinks around 1:30pm by the pier. Just glad the long day finally paid off and to the smoker they went. Pink Buzz Bombs hooked them both. One of the pinks had some parasites(blood suckers) on it as you can see in the pic.... hopefully we don't see alot more of these as they are the number one killer of salmon returns?

I have been checking Redondo beach, Dash and Browns pt last couple days with more fish turning up but it's not even close full throttle yet. I'll be heading out in the early mornings and will post if i see any changes.

P.S. Thanks Mikal1786 for showing up and helping out! Was awesome to get some fishing in with a member that posts!

Those little blood suckers are also commonly known as "sea lice". They are copepods that latch onto salmon and anadromous trout species in the saltwater. Seeing those parasites on river-caught fish indicate to river anglers that they are "fresh" from the saltwater, as sea louse can only survive a few days fresh water. Though there are also a number of fresh water salmon parasites. Sea louse are generally harmless to adult fish, but can be detrimental to the health of juvenile fish. Hence the danger of fish farms that sit in the path of smolt migration routes. Fish farms are known to be parasite-breeding factories.

those are "sea lice". totally normal. they do not hurt the fish. when u have em on your fish, you have proof, thats its a nice fresh fish! the freshwater version, copepods, tear up kokanee some years. but sea lice are a welcome sight.
