Finally had a chance to take my wife out to try for salmon this year. Wanted to take her to one of the rivers, but with all the levels running high and having our kids with us, decided to play it safe and go check out the beach scene. Hadn't heard anything recently about MA11, but thought it might still hold a few Pinks at least and the beach is always a good place to take the kids. Got there about noon. Only a few people fishing. Set up shop and gave my wife a tutorial on Buzz Bombing. I spoke to the few guys there and sounded like they hadn't seen anything caught all morning. Most everyone cleared out shortly after we got there, so had a lot of elbow room, which was a nice change of pace. A few more people showed up around 1pm. I thought I got a hit around that time, but missed the hook set. At 2pm we decided to stick it out till 2:30 and call it quits. At 2:15 my wife looks over at me and says, "I'm snagged"....and then it started fighting back. The fish didn't fight overly hard, but my wife landed it in picture perfect beach style, so apparently she was listening to my coaching. It was a small chrome Pink buck. Her first salmon ever! She was excited. She went back to fishing while I cleaned the catch. I'd just finished and cast out my own line when I look over and her rod is bent again! Again, she walked that one up the beach too. A little larger chrome Pink hen this time. I told her to let me finish cleaning this one before catching the next. This time I got to cast a few times before I looked over and saw that rod bent yet again. This one fought a bit better and she was really worried about losing it, but she had no problems putting that one on the beach either. This one was a large buck that was showing some color. Now it was about 2:45, so we stuck around until 3pm before deciding to head for home. We finally saw one other person land a small chrome pink down the beach as we were packing up. Somehow my wife had the touch I guess as she went 3/3. All in all a great trip. My wife caught her first salmon...as well as her second and third, the kids were happy, and we were going home with some fish I could finally try smoking.

Fantastic!!! I fished Redondo yesterday to Browns point and saw some schools and a few caught but sounds like you hit it at the right time~ incoming tides still seems to be best for the salt now this time of year. A hoppy wife and kids is priceless!! haha

Awesome...glad your wife got the opportunity for her first salmon and it worked out so well. Good call on the beach versus the river, especially with the kids along. Thanks for posting!

That's awesome! How come only a 3 star rating? That'd be a 5 in my book!

@GP - Certainly a 5 as far as family time and my wife's fish! But, I do try hard to rate the reports on how the fishing is overall. She was the only one catching them! :)
