Just been a looky-loo at washingtonlakes.com reports all summer enjoying the great salt opportunities. Couldn't help sharing the notable catch on Saturday. Thought I'd give MA 11 one last chance before taking the boat out of the water from the beach house. Fished my homewaters, Dolphin Point, in search of Coho, although not known for it's Coho fishing, but one of my favorite sleepers for the lack of boats and good fishing.

Started the troll at 6:45am, end of slack which sets up well for fishing the flood for Coho at Dolphin Point. Saw one boat net a Coho pretty darn quick and thought, today should be good. Well, 3.5 hrs later, two shakers and a boat ride, I tie up a Ace High Fly, herring stripped, 34" leader attached to a Red Racer Flasher and told my girlfriend as I snapped the rig on her starboard rod, "If you catch a big fish, you gonna owe me.". Down goes the rig to 45' on the wire in about 175' of water. Troll speed fast, 3.5 mph.

We troll for about five more minutes and I started to get up to make a few more adjustments and the starboard rod is pegged to the water! My lady doesn't see the take down so run to grab the rod only to find the pull is so hard, I can't get the rod out of the Scotty holder due to the weight and fight of the fish.

My girl takes note, comes to my side and I pass the rod off just as I get it out of the holder. It becomes real obvious we have King, not a Coho; the reel is screaming. I'm getting worried she is going to get spooled, up comes my gear and around the bow of the boat to chase the fish! 15 minutes later, 5 major runs and an epic battle to remember, an ocean brght 19.5 white king hits the deck of the Blackhawk.

I heart MA 11 for the generous king retention year round. Report gets a 5. Not for quantity, but quality.

Way to go! That looks like a king that you would catch in July or August!!
