Well, since I am not seeing many reports out of the 9-10 mark selective Chinook fishery here is my recap of the season thus far.

Thursday 07/17 was our first day out. Fishing the Pilot - No Pt - Skunk area. Landed 3 legal keepers all about 10 lbs, and released another legal sized high-finner. It was a great day on the water. We fished deeper, 130-150, to get our fish. All on spoons and UV flashers, and all right on the deck except one we picked up 90 ft down over 165 water. Fishing was really good for us that first day, evidently not so great for others as there were only 4 fish checked at the ramp when we returned at noon.

Friday 07/18 - More of the same. Same game plan, same location. Nailed 2 fish, one about 14# and another in the 10# class. Released one legal but very small blackmouth.

Friday - 07/25 we fished hard and only managed 1 keeper, 12#. Lots more pressure, but not many more fish. Saw a really good bite right of the point at tide change. Moochers hooked SEVERAL and we were one of the lucky troll boats to get into one. Actually 2, but I lost the first one due to slacking off.....

Sunday 07/27 - Fished again, similar area but not right on top of where we had been. Got the gear down in 145 feet of water with over 70' of the bottom showing as pure bait on the screen. Instantly knew it was setting up good. I turn around and my girlfriend is fighting a backlash so I am over messing around helping her untangle that disaster, look over my shoulder to check my rod and not even 10 minutes after putting it down its out of the clip and already peeling line. Fight it for a good while, and watch as a seal just lies lazily on its back as the fish goes swimming right by. Get it up to the boat and its a dandy. 21# clipped PS chinook. Fished hard till noon with nothing else. The tides were ripping REALLY hard and it made fishing very difficult, bucking the tides. right around tide change the wind whipped up and it was NASTY 2/3 of the boats all ran for the dock, we fought it out but couldn't scratch another bite.

Will be back on the water 08/07 and likely 08/09. Give me a holler on channel 68 if you're out.

Nice haul! Was out in area 9 this past Sunday as well. Just posted a report. Unfortunately we didn't have much luck. Hope to get back soon.

Matt,
Nice report and good fish. I'll be at Baker the next time you're out, but will look for you later in the month. I tried it a couple of times earlier but got blown off the water

Nice report. I was just going to post in the forum asking if anyone had a report!! Have you heard anything about Mid Channel Bank this year?

Mid channel was slow early, but decent recently. I am not going to disclose the "big" secret here, but a little bird has informed me that there are some numbers showing up inside over the past few days.

Thor, good to hear from you! I saw you heading down towards Camano late this spring, I assume targeting blackmouth. I was going to shoot you a text and say what's up but I guess I lost your number.

Hope to see you out on the water! I will be out tomorrow (07/31) and likely Saturday (08/02) Likely the same next week as well if the season stays open. Good luck up at Baker, last I heard that Wooldridge is a regular Baker fish killing machine!

Matt,
Just saw your note (and a pic of your new boat on another site). I'll keep an eye out for you as well. I've also been trying to get radio turned on when we're out. I'm hoping to knock a few at Baker. Reports indicate that it's a little different now than when it first got started. We'll see...
