Hit the lake from 6:50am to 9am. No Opening Day crowds but not as many fish either (at least not as many fish that were biting). I was trolling and tried a variety of lures ranging from quik fish to plugs to rapallas to trolling power bait. At 8:30 found the right combination - a simple thin blade spinner with a red worm on the hook. (I think the fish are sick of the power bait). I was getting strikes constantly but having a hard time getting a hook set. At 9am I had a solid hookup and brought in a nice 14 inch rainbow. Trolling battery was about dead so that was it for the day. Off to work on the honey do list.
