Boys and I went fishing and crabbing, caught two decent pinks, lost one at the boat. Had a wonderful day. Oh yea and someone stole three of our crab pots. Watch your pots boys.

They must have needed traps more than I, they where blessed pots so good for them.

Am I missing something, this is the second person that has talked about crabbing during a closed day. Crabbing is closed every week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in these areas.

@Doyourtime89 Your correct on the closed days in area 11. However in area 13, its open everyday.
@Centralia165 Are you sure you set your pots correctly? (length of line per feet of water, plenty of weight, extra floats) The tides around here are crazy strong as well as plenty of drop offs for the tide to drag your pots off. And do remember the closed days for crabbing, don want ya getting in trouble.

Thanks for the responses guys,

I did not specify that I was crabbing in area 13, fishing in area 11, Yes I was in fifty foot of water using 100 foot of weighted line and weight pots, and using double crab buoys. I thinking its unlikely to have lost three to currents in that area since I have set there before without problems. I checked at slack and found nothing. Things like this happen, the difficult part was that my children where with me. Its frustrating to have to teach them about the world when where trying to enjoy gods creation. Saying that im happy that I can teach them.

All good, it was just funny to come across to post talking about crabbing on a closed day. This one said area 11 and the other was area 10. I see now you were crabbing in 13 which I knew was open everyday and then running to fish area 11.

Interesting as I went fishing in area 11 and passed through 10 on Tuesday. I saw about 10 crab pots combined out. Sorry to hear about your losses. I quit crabbing and shrimping for that reason.

I lost two crab pots last week. Marked them on my GPS when I set them. I had two bouys, 100 feet of leaded rope in 65 feet of water. After a long search I found both of them about a half mile away. I set them on the Southside of chambers bay and the tide pulled them past the golf course. After I secured them I decide to start weighting my traps. No crabs in them either.

Glad to hear you got your pots back, I spent over hour searching immediate area and surrounding area, I will however go back and recheck to be on the safe side. I to have weighted my traps and as i said before I have set there before with the same traps with no loss or movement from current.

iwnt2retire,

I hear you about not crabbing or shrimping anymore, its to bad, I think from now on i will just sit on them. I always enjoy fishing the day and checking traps at the end. those days are gone.

I want to retire as well , lol

God bless you and yours
