1/6/2016 10:27:00 PMSeriously? This is a CnR fishery. Keep the fish in the water, use barbless hooks and for god sakes...NO BAIT. If you wanted to go rope in fish, then go to some lake and catch slim rocket planter trout. Leave this fishery to the real sportsman.

1/7/2016 12:08:00 PMCozmo4197 calm down. There is no rule stating you can't use bait. Also, the sea run cutthroat population is very healthy. The reason why it's still catch and release is simply so sport fisherman can have a fishery. I do understand protecting the fish and keeping it in the water, BUT, there is a reason why there is also no rule stating you have to leave the fish in the water for cutts in the sound. Just saying, cut the man some slack.

1/8/2016 12:10:00 PMDjButler- thanks for your support! Sounds like you understand the fishery better than most. Smokey34- last sentence does specify that all fish were released alive and I agree they should be released in rivers as well. To the other nay-sayers, the vast majority of fish were released in the water, the couple photos we took were taken after use of a KNOTLESS net and wetting hands so as to not do damage to slime and scales (natural protection). As to the use of bait- barbless hooks are barbless hooks, regardless of how they are presented. I'm sorry it's a problem for you that the method did not come out of a vice.. The fish lived to swim away. You want to use flies- use flies, I'll be the one making memories of catching fish..

Glad to learn of one more winter time fishery in the Northwest. I'm sure these critisisms are keeping many more from posting here. Its a shame.

1/8/2016 11:54:00 PMIm not particularly a fan of bait use on a c&r fishery these days, but i do love to see all the elitist fly guys worked up into a tizzy, so good on you! With that said, i dont think that 2nd fish was hooked with a barbless hook judging by the bloody gaping wound in its jaw.. Not judging.. I dont even live in wa anymore, do your thing as long as its legal...
