Hit our spot along the Puyallup around 05:00am this morning, set up my gear and waited for sunrise at 05:39am to cast out. Air Temperature was right around 55F, water temperature unknown, very light wind from the W/SW. Skies were partly cloudy with a light shower that moved through around 07:00 or so.

Started off drifting a couple blaze orange corkies, yarn, and scent with no takers. Changed up colors to a fire tiger pattern, red and chartreuse. Still no takers. Got bored and tied on a jig about 3' under a float still no takers. One of my friends tried a spoon with no luck either. Saw plenty of fish rising...but none would take anything we were offering. No luck for us today...left around 09:00am.

Hey Chad, are you guys parking down on the Levee?

Yeah...we typically hang out towards the west end of N. Levee Rd. Oh, BTW...the sunrise time was incorrect in my report...official sunrise was 06:39...the obligatory hour before would have been 05:39. :P

Quite possible...I am usually in a maroon F-150 toting a pontoon most of the time. As a side note, just got an email from WDFW...the Puyallup closes in that area two days a week to sport fishing. Noon on Sunday until noon on Tuesday. Not sure about the Broncos this year...they have been played fairly weak all preseason. Hopefully, they step it up a bit come Sunday.

Are you usually backed in? The last few times I have gone to the river, I have seen a truck like you mentioned already there before me, and I have been getting there before 4am sometimes.
I get those emails too.

No, that's not me...I think know what truck you're talking about though. I have been there fairly early as well, and he's already there. He may live there for all I know. :D

aguynamedmike-
You can still fish with non-buoyant lures (spoons & jigs). The new anti-snagging rules state if a non-buoyant lure is being used, then a single-point hook will be used, as well...and in some cases barbless (check regulations for specific areas). The only changes apply to buoyant lures or trolling...which can use more than one hook. At least that's how I read it...see the link below for "Anti-snagging rule clarified".
