I got there around 10AM and just 3 silvers had been caught. For the next few hours, I saw 2 other silvers get landed in addition to mine. On the way out around 2PM, chatted up w/ 2 people who caught 1 silver each.

The water was very fast. The pinks were still biting on just about anything, especially near the honeyhole. I used Dick Nite spoons initially as I usually do, but after losing 2 fairly quickly due to snags, I decided to switch up to corkie (yellow/green) and pink yarn on a size 4/0 hook. And instead of a slinky, I used a 3/4 oz ball weight. Funny thing was that I started getting bites right away w/ the new setup, but I thought it was just the weight hitting the bottom, so I didn't pull back hard to set the hook until divine intervention (the sun came out) gave me a clue. After that, as soon as I felt a bite, I yanked the rod back, and after just a couple of times, I hooked that silver! It jumped up, and I said out loud, "Damn, wish that was my fish" cuz I figured that I had just another humpie. Then I realized, "Oh s***, that *is* my fish!" :-) I took my sweet time bringing it in. It fought hard 6-7 times. Once I landed him, I saw that there was another 4/0 hook w/ broken line in his mouth, so this guy is definitely a strong fighter! What a day! And what a fish! :-)

I usually use size 2 or even size 1 hooks to fish for the pinks, but after losing several silvers that I had hooked, I figured that I would have better chance of landing silvers w/ a bigger hook. So, bigger hook for bigger fish. :-) I'm sticking w/ the size 4 hook for now on.

Hehe, Quad, as soon as I said there was another already on the fish, everyone around me piped up, "that's gotta be mine," "Is it pink?" "is it green?" "is it a spoon?" :-)

Thats a gorgeous fish, I've never fished this river, would you mind sharing a vague idea of how to get there from any major freeway?

It's the Stillaguamish River that goes under I5 between exits #208 and #210. There's a sandbar that you can see on your right while you're on I5 North. That's an okay spot though it can get quite busy. The other popular spot is on Pioneer Rd which you get to by turning right after getting off at exit #208 on I5N and going west for about a mile.

@Idstud, you should be able to find some pictures via Google or Bing image search. I would post a pic, but I'm on the road right now. I usually go w/ a size 2/0 red hook, 1 or 2 corkies, 10# leader (5-6 ft), and tie the yarn half on the hook and half on the line where it's knotted on the hook. That way the yarn doesn't move around. Oh, and I use a 1/2 to 3/4 oz weight to ensure that I can 1) cast far enough to the hole and 2) get deep enough down the hole where the silvers are biting more so than the pinks. Hope that helps.
