10/5/2009 12:07:00 PMNothing wrong with using jigs for silvers, they love em. If you want to try using some different hardware, go with a Blue Fox Vibrax spinner. I like the size 4 in a red body with a silver blade and I switch out the treble for a siwash hook and offset the point from the shank with a pair of pliers. As for drift fishing, it's a different animal, and you need to get used to the constant contact you make with the bottom and being able to detect a take. Corkies and bait both work but you probably want to give it a try with an experienced side drifter along to give you a few pointers.

Bottom bouncing jigs is nothing new to me, I understand feeling the bottom and detecting bites. Although I must admit, those Pinks have a much softer bite than smallies do.

10/5/2009 1:11:00 PMjens, yes bass fishing has been on hold for the past few of weeks. It's hard to pass up 5+ pound salmon, especially when I live but 5 minutes up the hill from the Green River; not to mention the ~15 pound King I had a couple of weeks ago (yes c&r)! But, this weekend I am going to dust the boat off again and hit one of my favorite bass fishing lakes to land those giant pigs that are feeding up right now. Let's just say if I don't get at least a 5 pound smallie or largemouth this weekend I will be disappointed...

10/5/2009 1:16:00 PMAnd, I caught that ~15 pound King on my bass rig. A Bass Pro Shops XPS Medium Heavy 6' 9" rod with a Curado baitcaster, and 12lb fluoro. So take that hardcore salmon/steelhead fisherman. Ha ha.

10/6/2009 9:24:00 AMMy son got his 10 King on my bass rod(quantam) 8 lb fluoro!!! I don't have much desire to fish for trout/bass right now also- got the fever for bigger fish these days! I live on a private lake that has pigs well over 5lbs..they are like friends with benefits to me. LOL- get to them when I get to them!! tight lines bro!

10/6/2009 4:12:00 PMi love catching steelhead silvers and kings on light line. i never go over 8 pound test in a year and i alwasy got my ulrtalight casting and my medium light spinning rod with me. its a blast and its actually a fair fight. besides you get more bites with lighter line
