I arrived at Barrier Dam a little after 1p. Matt and I met up with Jerry who had been fishing all morning. He had a nice Chromer already banked, gorgeous fish. Using my hot color and set up I found a spot along the masses and within 2 casts, fish on! I could tell right away it was a King. I fought it for about 10 minutes and released. I got back in line, and fish on again! This went on for about 10 cast in a row. I didn't land any of them, but it was fun trying. Today was a great motivator for me to get try and get my boat out. I was happy seeing several new salmon fisherman/women get a lot of action with those big Kings, but it was pretty frustrating having people consistently cast out of order. I even moved all the way down the line. And of course, when I would have a fish on, I would come back to find 5 new friends.
I seen maybe 2 Silvers from the time I was there and 1 was including Jerry's fish. I seen 2 lost, most of the fish caught were boots and pretty dark. The river was surprsingly clear and I wasn't sure of the CFS. Until next time....

not to pick on you or anything just first post i saw on the cowlitz today and i want to know if everyone up there snagging/flossing or are the fish actually biting? because if a fish is biting a corky and yarn set up you should not miss to many like everyone posting on this river says.

Jens,

What is up with all this critics? Maybe you shouldn't be posting any more reports and just keep them to yourself. It seems like people that are not catching anything got nothing better to do than accuse others of snagging/flossing. Maybe they should go out and check for themself if the fish are actually biting or not. Hmm, maybe when they see those 30+# fish, they will realize then they can't land all of them even if it is in the mouth.

haha was that a cheap shot at me king? and the only reason i asked was because when i asked my boss at Lamiglas how and where to fish he said people who fish up by the dam only snag on that river. just like most other rivers

Hey it wasn't only directed to you, but to all those CRITICS out there, including your boss, that should of known the difference from drift fishing and snagging, they are two completely different technique of fishing. To label everyone at the dam as SNAGGERS is completely IGNORANT, and I'm sure if enough fishermen complaint to Lamiglas about your boss, he might be at the umemployment line. Don't listen to what other people tell you, you have to go out and explore and find out for yourself what FISHING is all about. Don't be that 90% of fishermen catching only 10% fish (while criticizing the other 90%), be the 10% of fishermen catching 90% of the fish. Good luck fellow fisherman, hope to see you out on the river someday.

well not to brag or anything man but i catch more fish in the lower river than any of the people i talk to that fish at the lewis river hatchery and i do not have to worry about snagging my fish or getting a ticket for snagging. i dirft fish all the time on the klickitat but not just with corkie and yarn i use bait so that i don't "accidently" snag a fish they actually hit what im presenting. and im glad if others catch fish i alwas take my buddies out on trips trying to get them fish, but i will comment when i hear people brag about fish they catch snagging. or like most you corkie and yarn fishermen who worry if the hook is in the mouth

Woo Hoo! I am so excited that dylanE the Professional Angler who is gracious enough to say his technique of fishing and catching fish is FAR better than everyone who enjoys the sport. I look forward to reading your techniques that are far superior than everyone who doesn't fish to your approval. The floor is yours Pro.......

Get real dylame, how come we haven't seen any of your post/pics, come on who are you trying to kid. You yourself uses cork/yarn, don't act like your better than others because you know what, we all have try other setups and lost plenty too. Don't be jealous cuz we are posting our catches and your not, and you got nothing better to do than accusing fellow fishermen of snagging, were you there? No, then stop with the negativity and start being useful and helpful to this site. Nobody likes a whiner or complainer. Lets get real, dylame.

Are you a better fisherman than someone who uses powerbait? This website is for anglers to share their experiences, their tips, to learn off one another, and even make a new friend. Think about it, I have read your reports, you share nothing or give nothing. You admit you have done well in your fishing and to quote you, "Will out fish you guys anyplace, anytime.." LMAO Personally, I think you probably have some good stuff in your repertoire of angling skills, why not share it with the rest of us. I feel sorry for you man. Do not respond to this dylanE, you have a lot of negativity in your life bro.

Ass, wow you are a Lame-O, asking people is one thing, but labeling them as SNAGGERS is another dimwit. I wonder who really is an ass, just take a good look at the mirror and you might find that hole, you might have to look really hard since it is really tight. How can you outfish anyone when you haven't even gone out, as I see it we're way ahead of you. We don't want to talk to your IMAGINARY friends, you need to get over yourself dyLAME.

Geez, what's with these dudes and the "I'm better than thou" attitude. I see the same or similar asswipes on the sites. If they're so concerned about people snagging, then they should expend their energies educating people with tips and know-how instead of acting like douchbags.
