I fished Minter again on both Saturday and Sunday, and caught a ton of fish both days. I showed up around noon on sunday while the tide was just barely starting to go down. Fishing was slow until the water level droppped about 30 min later. Once the water came down though it was game on! Once again I had all of the snaggers out there gettin mad cuz I was hooking up at least 1 out of every 5 casts, and most were in the mouth. I landed at least 25 fish and 15-20 were legal. I ended up leaving at 430 with 3 of the most chrome chum I've ever seen. They looked so good that I actually baked one up, and it was surprisingly good!! Just bake it a little longer than normal and in something that allows the grease to drain and they're not nearly as oily as people would have you believe. On the downside, the people there are seriously horrible! I was surrounded by a bunch of idiots and their kids who have no idea what order to cast in and spend all day snagged on the opposite bank or logs. I was nice enough to walk out to retrieve other peoples crap from a log because they didn't have waders only a couple times before I had to start saying no. Also the guy right next to me asked me to help remove a hook from a foul hooked fish and when I went to release it he grabbed it and said he didn't care if it was foul hooked. So the next time I broke off I went to my tackle box and called WDFW while I retied. They never showed and the guy ended up leaving with a total of 3 foul hooked fish, all of them chromers. Dickhead.... Remember light weight, green and orange and a 3-4 ft leader, and if it's foul hooked just release it!!

Good report! I was down there on Friday and ran into a warden. He told my buddy and i to just call 911 if we ever see anyone doing anything wrong. Way too many people down there snagging and bagging. He busted atleast 10 people in the hour or two we were there.

Good!! I think that Minter is one of those places that they should try to have a game warden at all day on the weekends while it's open, just due to the type and number of people that fish it. I have never been there without seeing a lot of ridiculous and illegal crap going on. I would be interested to see how many of the russians down there don't have a license. Half of them can't speak english until they hear the word warden, and then they scatter like cockroaches.... sounds kinda iffy to me.

It's pretty sad to hear that kind of stuff. Those kind of idiots can't catch a fish any other way then snagging them. All of us real fisherman need to man up and tell these people that they are breaking the law and let them know that we aren't going to stand by and watch them get away with it over and over again.

To nyhus99 here is the directions to Minter: from highway 16, take the Purdy, Key Center exit. Then follow it to the Wauna Bridge, cross it. After you cross it, follow for about 5 minutes and then you'll see a cheveron to the left after the light and a 76 to your right. Then take a left onto Creviston road. Stay on the road and it will take you to a small bridge and you will see many people there and that's Minter Creek and Hatchery. Also a heads up, it's total combat fishing and that the creek is not that wide. In addition, there's about 50-70 people fishing there. Good luck.. hope you find it and maybe we'll see you out there.
