Met up with Jerry around 6:30am. We both struggled to find the river with the New Years festivities from the night prior (actually til the wee hours). We talked earlier in the evening and had every intention to meet around 5am- not.
We headed up to the hatchery and found the parking lot empty. All along the river where you would normally see a ton of cars, there was none. It was still pretty dark when we headed upriver so we both put on some glow balls with about 5 feet of leader. Jerry was hooking into a bunch of "overhangingfish", "rockfish", "behindhimbackpackfish", so he was spending more time re-riggging than fishing.
When daylight starting showing, I finally felt a familiar pause in my drift. "Fish!" This didn't feel like a fresh chrome metal whatsoever. I finally got a glimpse of what I was fighting and what the?? A super red chrome silver! and with a chunk of its stomach missing. EWW. I quickly landed this night of the living chrome and watched it swim back to find a mate, good luck.
I landed another one, not so bad, about an hour later. We scouted further upriver and found some great bobber/jig holes when the Steelhead start to show. I talked to a few guys downriver and no one has heard of any metal showing, the word is soon they say.
Until next time.

Hey jens sounds like you need to call up George A. Romero and let him know of your fishing day. It may inspire him to make a new zombie movie. "Night of the living Chum" "Zombie coho Island" something like that lol. Hopefully theyll be there soon.

Never did the behind the back fish. I did do the takethehatoffthehead fish before. Luckily I hooked it good cause I tossed it into the river and brought it back in. I caught that one when I was at the skok fishing for chums.

I actually fished near the same area last night for about an hour right before dark. The silvers are thick, but not anything worth keeping at all. I only saw a couple that were really bad, most of em were red, but not to the point of decompising while they were still alive..... yet. I'm going back on saturday hoping for a steelie or two, but if not the silvers are enough to keep me occupied while I wait.
