Nice little river but a TERRIBLE place to fly fish. Tree after tree after tree. Didn't catch anything. I used a size 16 (i think) march brown nymph. Nothing but snags. I lost it in a tree. I cant wait for the green river to open again. I started fising with a 7 and a half foot leader and left with a 2 and a half foot leader. Like i said, terrible fly fishing.

Ok i spoke too soon with this report. There are places to fish. It turns out, i took the wrong trail. There are different trails that lead to places with a good bank to stand on. I will get back with a new report hopefuly this saturday.

You need to really check the regs carefully when fishing the Deschutes. Some areas are catch and release, some minimum 14 inches etc.
