Around the first week of Aug is when it starts to produce under the i-5 bridge And under the bridge on mounts road. I had luck last year around the 18th of July also. The fish don't start to make there way up until late July early August moat of the time
There siting at the mouth in the sound feeding etc.

Just so everyone knows, the Nisqually is now listed under selective fishing, NO bait, single barbless. Same rules in Macalister creek and chambers creek. No scent, no eggs. Damn, and I talked to some folks that did well with herring last year! I did stick a nice king on a blue fox spinner with single siwash last year, though.Native netting begins next week, I believe. That suck about the selective rules. I don't see how that matters when the indians purse seine every hole, even when guys are fishing right there. All sportsfisherman could throw weighted trebles and still not come close to what the indians get. I hope the indians aren't ever able to net lakes; maybe after the rivers are cleaned out.

The I-5 bridge is not in the " listed under selective fishing, NO bait, single barbless." That applies to the water upstream from the tank crossing and above the dam.
Make sure you read the regulations (page 43) and confirm what you read on the internet. Night closure, Anti-snagging rule and barbless hooks 8-1-11 to 11-30-11 on the stretch we usually fish for salmon.

Per WDFW, there are no Emergency Regulations currently in effect for the Nisqually River, meaning that this river is as listed under the Puget Sound and Straits Rivers – Special Rules section on page 43 of the regulation pamphlet. There is the August 1 through November 30 - ALL SPECIES: Night Closure, Anti-Snagging Rule, and single point barbless hook requirement in effect, but WDFW does not have any bait restrictions on the Nisqually – other than the Statewide Freshwater Rules – Bait Rules that are listed on page 26 of the pamphlet.
