Our first attempt out to on the Puyallup to try for some Pinks. We opted to fish up stream away from the shoulder to shoulder folks and found a nice bank north of Orting just south of the McMillin road bridge.

We were on the river around 06:30, headed out at 10:00 when my two boys (7 and 4) decided they had spent enough time watching mom and dad practice casting. Saw lots of fish rolling, jumping, and splashing all around us, but not a single bite. We were using smallish corkies and quarter size yarn balls mostly. Started out with a green corkie, switched over to a light pink and whitish corkie. Only saw three fished hooked (two kept) in the 3.5 hours we were out there.

I've never fished the Puyallup before, or rivers for salmon for that matter. My experience was mostly steelhead up on the Hoh, Queets, Quinault and south on the Wynoochee and Satsop. Looks like I need to learn a thing or two. May try the Green tomorrow am, since it's much closer (10 minute drive to soccer fields area). Just need to scout out a good place to fish while its still daylight. :)

That's one of my favorite spots on the Puyallup but like you, haven't been able to catch anything there yet.
Was there last week and also saw lots of rollers but only had two hits on a spinner.
