Hit the skagit yesterday morning casting spoons while drifting above mount vernon. We hook a few humpys right away. My friends reel was not working right so he switcfhed over to his trout rod and right after that he hooked into a nice coho. Luckely for him it did not put up a big fight, looked like it had been attacked by a seal. At first we thought it was a king because of the size and the fact it was not jumping all over. But we got it up to the boat and saw the white gums and silver streaks on the tail and quickly got it into the boat.

Nice skagit silver man. The fish in there are usually good size, 8-15 pounds. Were you by any chance using a medium (#1) size dick nite? i caught SO many coho last year on the #1 red and white dick nite last year on the rocks below gardener street launch. 2 years ago also, id walk by all the plunkers who were catching pinks, they would be like "what are those big fish?" lol now that i know theyre out there, its time to start targeting them and not pinkies.

fishing pacNW... Reel ur spoons reallly really slow, like almost drift fish them. Let it sink to bottom and reel SLOW SLOW SLOW. you snag up all day but the coho will practically bite nothing else in the skagit, their weird fish. Vibrax and stuff like that just doesnt work anymore...
