Went to the Green/Duwamish with the little kid for round 2 (she got her first pink ever on Sunday). She had a great time as did I both trips :-) Here she is battling one of several pinks she landed on the day. She even netted some of the ones I caught! Getting her up to speed quickly. Ahhh, it is very enjoyable to be able to spend some time with her out there and with her attention keyed in on the fish! Most of the time anyhow. Gonna have to get back to work though but it was a great weakday (she said she was weak from all the fish). BTW thanx Gringo Pescador!

Nice! She's got some skills now! I remeber her catching those trout last year and she had a blast, I bet she was having a great time with those monsters!

Right on! She's handling it like a pro. If you think as I do with my daughter, I want her to out fish me every time to keep her interested in fishing with me. I dread the day she might become a mall rat. Pat yourself on the back for taking her with you.

Glad I got to share a bank with you and help get your daughter on some fish Knot! For those who don't know - this guy is a madman! Pole breaks? No problem! He'll cast, hook & land em with only the bottom 1/2 of the pole! He cleans em AND rips the skin off of em right there riverside. I was waiting for him to start ripping the gills out with his teeth!

islandbass- ya I am with yuh on letting the little one build some confidence in fishing and getting her up to speed, sure like the idea better than ANY mall shopping :-)
LOL the ripping the gills out by teeth only happens the first trip or two out when excessive cabin fever and a chance (FINALLY) to get out time themselves simultanously GP :-)
The cleaning method is certainly not 'normal'. That's easy to determine by simply looking up at people as I clean the fish. Even my daughter looks at me funny when the skin gets ripped off. We call it the 'seal skinning method'. Although suppose bears are similar. I think nate has also been privy to the 'technique'. Definitely no slime to be had although it is a bit ugly until the fish are filleted. Scaling the fish and giving them a cold shower blast works fine getting rid of slime but isn't quite as fun ;-) That was great fun GP and was exactly what I was looking for with the 3 days off from work! Time on the water with daughter AND her keeping interested in fishing, praciticing casting, and catching. A nice trifecta.

jens- thanx for the feedback. I told my daughter a river fishing veteran said she looked awesome fighting the fish :-) Just pinks but the timing was perfect since I've been working waaay too much and fishing way too little this year. Gringo Pescador- just to be clear to others, I don't regularly fish with a broken fishing rod sporting only the lowest guide LOL. As GP knows, the rod broke after I landed my 5th fish but before the 6th so I said 'screw it' and started trying to swing the little jig out there with the half rod. Luckily even on the 6 pound monofilament and one guide I was able to land that 6th one. Unfortunately it was ANOTHER broken rod (sheesh). Broke two old ones (25+ years old) last year on chinook. This one was just a trout/bass rod so not a total surprise although I never grip the graphite part of rod so maybe there was a small fracture in it already. OK back to work now, but it was a fun weekend with the kid.
