9/27/2011 9:30:00 AMGood on you having the right attitude. Pinks crowds for some reason seem to carry some, uh, not-so-great characters. Just for your own future knowledge since you are clearly on the good path, when releasing a fish it is best not to hold them around the gill plate area and even better not to hold them at all (just take the hook out with needle nose pliers while they're in the net or near shore if without net). That is an AWESOME (bright) looking fish that those crazies unfortunatelt would have fought over LOL. Good hting it was you catching it. Think of the fish's gills like our lungs and our hands as bacteria infested towels to them. You wouldn't want a bacteria infested anything touching your lungs unless you want pneumnia or worse :-) Don't worry though- looks like you barely have that one held at the gill plate and it is nice and bright so if you saw it recover and swim off, it likely will be fine. Nice report, nice pic, nice fish! Geesh, I may have to get back out there...

9/27/2011 9:32:00 AMyou can keep native silvers on the green....yes there are lots of loosers on that river....I saw those guys on saturday throwing beer can after beer can in the river by the golf course...fucking loosers make me sick........next time youll keep the silver!!

9/27/2011 9:40:00 AMWhat part of Kent were you fishing? Sounds like you started out by the footbridge by S 277th St? Nice report. Also you could always call fish and game. That kind of attitude is not acceptable. Those type of fishermen, if you want to call them that, looses privileges for us good fishermen :-(

9/27/2011 10:09:00 AMI too stay far away from the bridge. Whats funny is I fish that stretch of river alot and I don't even like that hole even if there is no one fishing it. The area where you are pictured works fine for me. Thanks for the report.

Like knot said - when releasing a fish never hold it by the gills and if at all possible don't remove it from the water at all (in some areas for some species it is illegal to remove them from the water even). 9/27/2011 1:09:00 PMWe fished just past the bridge, you take a left I think at the first light by the Shari's. I talked to a few farmers on the Samish river up by Edison last week, who were telling me about all the fishing privileges lost to fisherman because of the way they act on that river. Farmers were saying they used to allow fishermen to fish from their properties, but the fishermen started using their crops as bathrooms and trash cans and the poor farmers had to destroy acres of good crops. Also said fishermen were trying to sue them for stupid things like falling off the dike system, and legally they could because it was on the farmer's property.

I saw a lot of illegal and horrible things done to these salmon this season. One time I was on spokane street bridge fishing for them and a guy next to me snags a pink and yells, "flying fish!!!" The guy then takes his rod and hucks the salmon over the railing and it lands on the cement with a huge thud. He then kicks the salmon into the water.

9/27/2011 9:00:00 PMI took my 9yr old son to that nice fishing hole under the Meeker bridge once (about a month ago). We were one of the first ones there and within an hour, it was full of guys with no respect for people around them. I had to take my son away from that mess. We were able to catch 4 nice pinks though! Never been back since and my son always askes "why don't we go there?" I tell him it's not worth it!
