A beautiful day on the river weather-wise. That's the good news. Of the dozen or so guys fishing, only 2 fish landed. Believe it or not, one of the fish was caught on a hammer-finished gold spoon! Hey, why not! One other hook up by a guy running a bobber set-up but he wasn't paying attention and didn't set the hook. Fish on......fish off. I know 4 or 5 of the guys that were fishing and they all produce fish! Thursday though, was a bust. Both drifting and floating a bobber. The general consensus is the run is pretty much over. There will be a few caught between now and closing but be prepared to spend a good part of the day working the river.
Good luck

Hey, I am the one that got the fish off the gold spoon. 100% pure skill. Just joking, I must have hit the fish in the right in the head with the spoon to get him to bite it. It was my first steelhead I have ever caught without the help of a guide. I was stoked

Hey, I was the one that missed the fish on a float and jig. I was paying attention but didn't read the signs correctly. I was running the jig over rocks right in front of me after a long day of absolutely nothing happening other than bestee hitting his fish on a spoon. My float never went down....it just bounced twice which I thought could have been a whitefish or rock bounces. At that point my float took off and I saw the flash of the fish taking off underneath it. I knew I was in trouble with the missing hookset but I survived a couple jumps before the inevitable happened. The lesson to be learned is to reel up and hit anything that looks suspicious.....even after hours of inaction. This one will haunt me for a while as I could have taken a fish home on a dead day. Oh well.........tight lines.
