Had a great day on the kan, floated from stateline to argonne. Started out going for bass caught a few and had a small hammer handle pike about 5 feet from the boat follow my spinner but no go. Kept catching bass and got 2 redband trout in the rapids. Got closer to the end of my float and had a strike and thought I had a big smallie but got it to the boat and saw it was a Brown, my first on the Spokane and I have fished it hard. It was a great fighter. Got to my last spot where they have been rising like crazy the last few weeks at sundown and threw my spinner about a hundred times while being surrounded by hundreds of rising fish. Just when It was almost too dark to see I got a vicious hit and the redband Im holding came flying out of the water no joke 4 feet. Awesome day on my home river.

Sounds awesome, How is the float? I'm not familiar with the river. What did you ride on?

Not sure why the pics aren't working maybe I can email them to someone. The float is fun more paddling than floating. I use a one man pontoon thing it works ok, when the water is really low the river can be a pain to get around all the rocks in the rapids. I got out on N. side of bridge but wouldn't suggest it, it was just dark out.

The pictures are fine if you click on them to get a bigger image. From looking at the picture of the rainbow trout, is it the red on the gill plate that makes it a red band? Also, I believe someone told me or a saw a sign saying they were endangered or something so what are you suppose to do if you get one? Anyway, they are both very nice fish.

The red on the gill plate and side identifies it as a redband yes. There are signs all along the river showing the redbands due to all the poaching and misunderstandings of the special rules on the Spokane. Its catch and release, no bait single barbless from Idaho to Upriver and downstream of Monroe st. So if you catch any fish in those areas you must release them.
