So I have been meaning to post this for a few days now and just haven't had time till today. This is in regards to the nets being in at the Mouth of the Duwamish River. Where I work, I get to unfortunately see the nets going in and being pulled out when the boats come by to get them usually with Salmon in them. I also get to watch the Seals pull the Salmon out of the nets which sometimes makes my day considering that they are getting a free meal for the nets being in. I am not a big advocate of the nets doing damage to the runs, but this will never be stopped due to the agreements in place between the State and Tribes.

Well back to what everyone is wanting to know, the nets were just in at the mouth of the Duwamish River after the rain had passed the other day. They were in for the entire day and I saw a few boats come by a few times thru out the day to check them. I also saw a few Seals thru the Binocs having fun with some fish which looked to be decent size. I haven't seen the nets in since that day which I believe was Tuesday, I did however see a couple Seals swimming at the mouth of the Duwamish throwing some fish around today which was promising! I also spoke with a good buddy of mine who is a biologist and works directly with the Salmon fishery and He was telling me yesterday that the Salmon really haven't even started to run yet and that it is still a few weeks off until we get that real first rain period. The majority of them are still sitting at the mouths of most rivers waiting to make that first initial push to their spawning grounds. For now I would say the best bet is to just keep trying in hopes of maybe getting lucky and hitting an early initial run or head towards the Coast where I am hearing that more Salmon are starting to show up in some of the mouths of rivers. Good Luck and Tight Lines

Nate

I was thinking of plunking for Walleye. Do you think I'd do ok?
