Float Fishing
Coho Salmon

Fished the early morning high slack to mid-low tide. Lots of jumpers early, and a few willing fish. Hooked a nice hen 10 minutes into fishing, which inhaled my hook down to its gut. A half hour later, hooked into a 12 3/4" Jack Coho, which had been nibbling my bait the last few drifts. Bonked him as he too, was gut hooked. After that, the action slowed a bit. Brielfy had a couple more on, and missed a few too many float downs on long drifts. Just had too much line out, to properly set the hook. Landed my last fish around mid low tide. Turned out to be a dark Chinook jack, which I released. Left a little while after, as I only brought a couple skeins of eggs.

Yep, could have been limits every day, if only I had landed them. Who knows, might try for 4 for 4 tomorrow.

What tides to you favor for float and egg fishing?

What I found out with eggs, you just need some current, even with the tide coming in, you just need to have the float moving. Once it gets to snails pace, it's not worth fishing eggs anymore.

With the high tide in the evenings for the next couple days, the river will be at a stand still.

losaturn, kzoo- coming weekend tides are looking decent for the Duw and I might try to get a couple hen skeins cured up if'n the time to get 'em shows up this week . I think losaturn is going to give you a run for your Duwamish float and egg money kzoo ;-) losaturn I can't speak for kzoo but personally prefer an incoming higher high tide. This weekend that'd be time running up to about Noon Sat and around 1 PM Sunday. Then again I really don't get out to fish so kzoo's the better source.

PS- "This weekend that'd be time running up to..." meaning fish the tide as it is coming in (morning).

I think other conditions affect the bite more such as low light conditions in the morning, evening or rain event.
