Another quick trip before work.
Guess I have to say I went 1/1, but didn't bring it home due to idiot operator error. Made the mistake of not securing the fish after banking it and while fishing in my pocket for my knife to cut the gills, the fish did the Watusi and managed to slip past my strategically placed boots and get into the water again. Lesson learned. Rope it first, then bleed it. You'd think that would be a no-brainer after 30+ years of fishing.....and I'd brought my camera this time too!

Now the report. Got to the water at 9am again. Another beautiful overcast day. Tide seemed to be all the way out. More people fishing today, but not many fish jumping and didn't see anyone with fish on the bank. Set up shop and put my newly favorite jig (The Chartrugly) into action. Guy next to me had been there a while and said nothing had been happening.
After 20 minutes he packed up and moved. I think it was two casts later I had one drill my jig right near the bank. Since it was right close and not a large fish, I pulled it up onto the bank. Beautiful brilliant chrome little hen. Probably not more than 4 lbs. if that. Was happy that I was going to have more roe to cure. Well, that was short lived. After my unintentional C&R I went back to pitching my jig. A school must have moved through as surface action picked up and I saw two guys below me bank fish and one guy above me net one. I kept at it for another 20 minutes, but no more for me. Certainly not as good as yesterday, but the morning definitely had potential.
Saw a Fisheries Enforcement boat move through the area. Not sure what they were doing, but didn't seem to be interested in the bankies.

Dude I woke up this morning so badly wishing I could go to the river. ..... jealous. Going to go out tomorrow morning and fish for sure. Just not going to keep anything, do a C&R day. Maybe one if it is bright enough, but I just know it is going to be epic.... Nice work !!!

Great report BentRod. Sorry to hear about the one that got away. Glad to hear you are getting it dailed in. I went out and fished by the 112th Bridge last night. There were fish turning and jumping everywhere. Some were bright chrome and others were turning red. Tried a 50/50 Dick Nite and several yarn combination, but didn't get anything. Plan to give it a shot again tomorrow.

Went out yesterday. The natives didn't put the nets in but noticed the the UW Civil Environmental Engineering department had some buoys floating so I wonder if their fish study had anything to do with it. The sign at the boat launch at 1st Ave, out front of the natives facility, said "fishing closed." That would explain the no nets. Few fish rolling, not really active. Tried trolling plugs, tossing a jig up by 112, throwing spinners, basically the box and only had one bump the whole 6+ hours. We packed it in before the rain came in at 1. Only a few other boats but they weren't catching either. Was kind of hoping the rain would have stirred up the fish a bit more. Gonna move up stream this week.
