12/1/2012 10:24:00 AMGetting short strikes so you attached a octopus hook onto a cut off hook on a jig, just how did you attach the octopus hook, certainly not by the eye on the jig for your main line? Just wondering cause you have inspired me to tie my own and seems like a good method to try, something like an undulating tie up with bead head fly hooks aye?

12/1/2012 8:12:00 PMI used 20lb mono on that one. I use braid also, but the braid will "soften up" after it gets some wear on it so when the jig is swimming the hook hangs down a little, espcailly when the hook is a few inches back. I might try some braid about 100lb test because I have been using 40lb. The mono stays stiff. I make a loop and stick it through the eye of hook then just tie down both ends to jig. I leave hook on until the end and cut it off. You tube has lots of videos that show hot to do it. I am trying to figure out how to upload videos to site.
