Well, nothing stellar, but I did manage to finally hook my second Steel of the season (first for 2013). Since it was slightly above freezing, I ventured out in the AM. Foggy and calm. Saw a couple caught, so after battling my gear for a half hour, losing a jig, and somehow ripping a float down the side with my braided line, I managed to re-rig my float and jig to my satisfaction and cast a two-tone pink jig out into the current. Almost immediately it was bobber down and fish on. Averaged size buck. Nice to fight a fish again. Fished for a while longer with no other action. Ran into Don again....who happened to also be present when I caught my last fish. Always nice to see a friendly face.....and he's apparently my good luck charm too, so thanks Don! Hope to see you again out there! :)

(sorry, didn't take time to snap a photo today)

Thanks. Would love to be able to have a 5 star day, but guess I should be happy that I'm catching anything at all. :)

BR, your showing serious perseverance when chasing the mighty Steel. For that reason alone, I would have expected your two star rating to be higher. I almost did not read your report due to the low rating. Thought two stars on a Steelhead fishing day, would be great scenery, and a caught trout, cutty, whitefish, or sucker!

But you lands one! I think the color of a 3 star rating, turns to color green on the report main page. For that reason alone, 3 is minimum..........?

Awesome catch. Keep an eye out for that "good luck charm" next time out.......sloshing for steel.

I got to view BentRod beaching yet another steelhead today. I'm going to have to start charging him a fee for showing up. Every time I catch him on the river, his rod is bent over and he is battling a steelhead. Great Job and congratulations, the perseverance pays off.

Thanks Real. Really great seeing you out there today. Moto, you might be right, but if you look at the rating description, if I remember right, a two star is "catch some fish, but really had to work at it". Well, I caught one fish and I really had to work at it. For me a three star would be landing one and also maybe having a take down or two. Limiting would count as a four star and limiting and having other take downs or getting a personal best would bump it up to five star. I'd say today was a solid two-star, but was close to three in my book as I did see others caught around me. But, I only had the one takedown, so for me I'll rate it a two. Everyone has their own criteria. I'm trying to keep it related to the fish.....although anytime I catch a fish I do consider it a great day! Tight lines.

Your rating jived with the site perimeters. I was placing Steelhead on a pedestal over other fish species. Due to there elusive nature, and very often difficult to catch. Not to mention flow inconsistencies of rivers, and enduring the Winter weather conditions. I was not knocking your rating, as much as adding a excitement and accomplishment point....or.......two.........LOL!

Hope this makes sense.
