"There is no fish in the river yet"

Those words rang thru my head this morning as I met blurock (Bree) at the cady park boat ramp. We got a late start rolling it at 9am but it seems the tides play the major factor (or so i though) with pinks. We ran up river and anchored in a promising spot. I started twitching a Joels Jig trouble maker and within 5 minutes had the first fish to the boat. This mayhem continued for the next two hours.

Bree caught one on a little kid push button rod after many failed attempts. We were letting fish go by 9:45. After the tide started to move up the bite slowed a little bit but we picked up a few here and there till about 1 when it died so we moved further up and found a little honey hole and plucked a few more fish out. Bree was the first to limit with a nice fish that inhaled a 50/50 dick-nite. and i spent the next 45min losing fish at the boat trying to get my last one for the day. The last fish i had on was an epic battle between fish and man. Im fishing with a 7' Ultralight and this fish hit and took off. peeling line and digging deep, we were convinced we had a king, get it up to the boat, NOPE, biggest damn humpy I have ever caught.

Final count 19 to the boat, 8 in the cooler. and i don't know how many hook ups. EPIC DAY. Now I have a ice pack on my arm, the drag is siezed up on my reel and I'm coated in dried fish slime. This is what the "odd" years are all about.

Bluerock using a two tone pink princess pole on a river caught salmon........that shows style, and a good sense of humor! Those poles must be tough. On another internet fishing site, a group used those poles to catch tuna! I think they called it the "Barbie pole, tuna classic" or some such thing. Way to go Bree!
