Went for a family fishing day on the river. Launched at Rotary Park about 10:30 and fished our way upstream. Beached the boat about 1/2 way to hwy 9 for lunch and to play in the water a little bit. Not long after BlueRock and her gang joined us. Had a great time talking boats & fishing while watching my daughter play in the water.
After a bit we hit the river again. My daughter was doing pretty good casting a jig with her Barbie pole but kept getting tangled in the tether I had tied to it so I took the tether off and yep - you guessed it, 10 minutes later there goes the pole over the side and into the depths. Never heard her cry so hard without an injury involved. Finally got her calmed down and she crashed hard on the bow, so while she slept, we continued to fish our way upstream.
Made it up to Cady Park just as Oneshot was launching so get to chat a bit then after my daughter woke up we decided to give a last shot up past Pilchuck so we bombed up there for a bit before heading out.
You will notice that there is no mention of fish in this report. We were out on the river for 7 hours (pretty damn good for a 4YO and two non-fishers), had no hookups and only saw 3 fish caught by other boats.
It WAS a perfect day though, not too hot, not too cold, time with friends and family, plenty of laughs and lots of snacks.

Ouch, sorry about the lost pole. As to the fish, should get into some next Saturday!

good seeing you out there! Your sounds and looks great flying upriver!

The fact that your girl gi so upset is a good sign in a way.. Can't fish without a pole. :)

Bummer about the pole! Keep waiting for my own daughter's Barbie pole to head for a watery grave, but amazingly still have it. Made it through one kid, now we'll see if it survives her sister! Sounds like a good time regardless. Better luck on your next trip.
