I went in search of catching my first coho on my own over on the Olympic Penninsula. I was very concerned due to the lack of rain. The Hoh was the only real fishable river so it made for an easy decision of which river to choose. Unfortunately, it was also the choice of everyone else in the area too. Started at first light and bank fished at a great hole before the drift boats had a chance to hit it. I was shaking because I knew there had to be some fish laying in this deep pool since it was the only place the fish could pass through. After half a dozen casts, I get a take down and it was very first salmon caught on my own. This may sound strange, but it was the highlight of my trip even though it was not the biggest salmon as you can see from the picture. I also managed to hook a beast of a King also! Weather was sunny and warm (mid 60's). However, without any rain the fishing is just going to get tougher because the native Indian nets are out on the Hoh..

Dude, Nothing strange about your excitement for catching those beasts! Great job and way to go to get out there and find a honey hole before the crowds hit. Look forward to some future posts!
