woke up bout 5 this morning with only 4 hours of sleep, but i was i determined today id hook into a steelie. got to reiter bout 730, floated some jigs then switched to a size 5 blue fox. nothing. about 10 or so across the hwy side i seen 1 landed. i was just about to head out when i decided to keep my ambition and tried a different setup. 4ft leader with a saltwater fly tipped with some shrimp. for all of those who've been to reiter know of the huge boulder smack in the middle of the river. anyhow i cast out bout 100 or so feet up stream and allowed my gear to float just along side the boulder and just about my second cast bobber gets just passed the boulder and sure enough bobber down. set the hook and start hauling her in. unfortunately i was reluctant to have a net otherwise i would of gave this report a 5. but i got the fish close enough to shore to look at it right in the eyes before it gave on more head shake and off she went. greatest feeling ever!!!! first steelie ive ever hooked and it was a moment never to forget but only fuel my ambition to finally land one. after today my confidence has grown not in my gear but in a tactical aspect. after about an hour or so more guys starting showing up so i hit a couple other holes upstream but nothing so i hit the wallace and landed quite a few cutthroat to relieve my anxiety of landing a fish. great day though good weather and all.
