Finally catching some fish. Fished the Green today, got there at 7:30am on the third cast I hooked what had to be a monster chum. this fish to my lure about 80 yards and would not give me an inch, just taking line like crazy. I tried to hold it but he was just too strong, finally I didn't want to give in any more 'cause he was getting pretty far down river i started to pull until he broke the hook off my jig.
After that epic battle, I kept hooking onto fish all morning, the last good jig I had was barb-less so I lost a couple other fish. But by 9:09am I've had my limit, nice big fish, the biggest one was 27" all females full of eggs.

Great day!!

How would a chum like that taste in comparison to a humpy? I've never kept a Chum, but the ones I've caught have always been a lot darker.

Chad S. I mainly use Chum for smoking, so I can mix in Chowder, pastas and make cream cheese dips, and to give away ;p. I think pink is just a little better tasting than Chum, no a lot of flavor. But they are a great fish to catch + all those eggs!!

I make a killer jerky out of chum. Not good for anything else other than her eggs..

What color jig were you using? Did you tip it with prawn or just a naked jig?
