I'm new to the area can you suggest some area of the river I could find to fish like up above Burlington or do I need to go as far up as Rockport and do you cast spinners or spoons for these or do you plunk like with a spin-n-glow with bait. Thanks for your report and appreciate any help or info you could give me.

6/23/2015 7:43:00 AMNice work. I bought 3 dozen sand shrimp because its been hard to find and I never made it out. Thinking about just hitting the bank with the family sometime and leaving the boat at home.

6/23/2015 8:00:00 AMHey all, Im thinking of trying for sockeye this weekend since its the only salmon I havent fished for. what size weight are people using out there? and is everyone plunking with spin bobbers and shrimp? does anyone cast and reel and catch sockeye. If anyone can help me out thatd be great.

6/23/2015 10:17:00 AMTallfisherman, I wouldn't expect any help on where to go if it's totally obvious you haven't read the sockeye regulations on the Skagit. At least check the book then maybe ask questions. Hint: don't go to Rockport and keep a sockeye.
Fisherman92, 6oz or 8oz is what I needed last weekend. Looked like guys were using less but I had canon balls not pyramids. spin n glos and shrimp. Didn't see anyone cast and reeling. It's a plunking gig for sure.

6/23/2015 11:57:00 AMThanks Fishindude. Im not used to plunking, guess I might have to bring a six pack with me! Ill give it my best shot. heard they like to sit in 3-5 ft of water. Ill prob try some 3-4oz pyramids. Good Luck!

6/24/2015 2:24:00 AMGreat point about not waiting on plentiful reports. The best reports are those you make yourself. Having said that, I too have to travel a ways to get there and so like to increase my odds. Heatherlyfish, sent you an email. As to plunking weight, I'll bring a range this weekend...Amount just depends on where you're fishing. Whatcha using for leaders? I'm tying up some leaders in 20lb. Maxima Flourocarbon. 20lb because the fish can't see it anyway supposedly :)
