With mostly dry weather, the sun making an appearance, and the Hawks game keeping people inside, I decided to head out to one of my favorite places to enjoy some quiet and scenic fishing. With the salmon season over, I figured I would cast out some steelhead gear, even though it might be more like trying to catch a unicorn out here. The water was mostly green/starting to take on some color, and running rather fast.

Wow! The reports of the river having shifted around after the last downpour are certainly true. As this is my first season fishing the Carbon, I reckon this is pretty normal for this river? I had to re-hike my usual stretch to find new holes. Good thing I brought my waders today. The spots I like to fish used to be pretty doable without waders, but it's much less so now. It feels like a bigger river after the last shift.

On a first cast into a new hole, I managed to get one decent sized fish (unidentified) to follow my drift setup to the surface and quickly whip back down into the depths. No bites today.

It should be interesting to see what happens to the river after the downpours this week.

Sightings today along the river:
* A couple of eagles
* Lots of teens coming down to the river along the trail to smoke things their parents would not approve of

This is a good report, fajitamondays, I can appreciate all of the anecdotal observations. Judging by the lack of grammatical issues, seems like you pay as much attention to your writing as you do to your tackle :)

Nothing like being out in the elements when you know millions of others are glued to their HD TVs, melting into couches like warm queso!
