Went down to the creek off of Stanwood-Bryant road with a friend of mine and dropped our flies in at about noon. Several other people swimming out in the creek so decided to hike downstream a ways. We used dry flies for the duration of the time in the fast water and wooly buggars in the slower deeper areas. We both caught several small brook trout in the faster water but that was about all we hooked into.

No Brook Trout in Pilchuck Creek, just Cutthroat, Steelhead/Salmon smolt, and the occasional resident rainbow. From the looks the fish in your picture you were probably catching Steelhead smolt, as they live in the stream for a full year before heading out to the saltwater. I'm sure you did, but take it easy on these fish when you catch them, they are our next run of wild steelhead.

Agree with 7mmfan, those parr marks on the side I.D the fish as a smolt, likely steelhead. It is a nice picture, but be careful with them!
