What started out as a late start with low expectations quickly turned around once we got to the water. The temps had finally dropped and it seemed to get the fish biting. Third drift through the deep pool and bam, fish on! It started leaping and went totally crazy which made me think wild fish but when it got to the bank it was a bright hatchery buck. I took a friend who never caught a steelhead and first cast for him was fish on, and it was a beauty! Another chrome hatchery, this time a hen. After about an hour of no action we moved downstream to the next pool and once again, first cast, bam fish on! It was the nicest of the day, about 14lbs buck, very fresh and very lively. So in all we landed 3 and lost 2 while seeing only one drift boat go by in about a 3 hour span. Good luck out there, tight lines everyone.
