2/26/2011 7:09:00 AMI am soooo envious, we try and try to catch silvers at Roosevelt, but never seem to have any success when specifically targeting them. We have caught a few "incidentally" but never really on purpose. Those are some beautiful silvers and deserve a bigger pic!!! If you could/would share any tips I'd appreciate them. Great catch! :-)

2/26/2011 8:40:00 AMYou Bet ! this time of the year stay in the upper water level and have been working toward the center of the river mostly over 265 to 324 deep. The top ten feet of water have been our best luck. This picture came off my phone, did not have my camera sorry about that. The boats do spook these fish easy when close to the surface. I try and stay away from other boats, it seems to help.

2/26/2011 12:04:00 PMAre you using any lake trolls? What size flasher or dodger? How long of leader behind your flasher? Any particular speed range? I have good luck on Koke's on lake Cda during the summer but they are tiny compared to those brutes

2/26/2011 1:30:00 PMI Have been using dodgers of 4 1/2'' to 5 1/4" long. Just remember what works one day does not always work the next day. At this time It depends on what you are pulling behind the dodger. ( Flies, wedding rings, or apex). I have been using 33"-36" leader lengths. Not much action on these lures. Fishing for Kokanee speed is very important. To fast and all you will catch is bows. Have been keeping speed under 1.6 mph. There is many good Kokanee fisherman out there,some will share information with you ! The more you ask the more you will learn. I have friends using leader much shorter then me. You never stop learning, these fish will keep you guessing some days and other days you will be dialed inn. Good Fishing ! qball59

2/26/2011 1:33:00 PMHmmm top 10 feet of water sounds like leadcore line might produce, longer line = farther from boat and less likely to spook the fish.

2/27/2011 7:05:00 AMThanks for all the replies qball59, I appreciate them. I knew the silvers were on top this time of year, much like the 'bows. I have tried to emulate the technique Ray Bailey "preaches" about, but have been unable to connect that way so far. I know he's got it dialed in, I just need to keep after them until I get it figured out. That's the reason for asking about tips, maybe someone will offer the one piece of advice that completes my puzzle! I'll be watching for more reports and hopefully, some bigger pics. ;-)

IF anyone has the correct answers he will, he has also given me some great advice on Koks. Its great to build off his information, I have learned that the correct questions are as important as the answers. I wish you the best and don't give up. These Kokanee can keep you hopping, I enjoy the challenge of fishing for them. My problem is if i can catch ten, I should be able to catch twenty. Good fishing ! qball59
