Set out at about 7:30 this morning to go fish for sockeye above wells dam and had no luck at all! There were tons of fish rolling right in front of me but I was still getting no bites. At first I was using red coon shrimp and I was about to leave when another guy showed up that I chatted with for a while. He told me he had some purple coon shrimp that had worked very well for him so I walked back down to the water with him and we fished for about another hour. Still no luck at all, I need some suggestions on other methods or baits I could use because I had literally no action all day!

don't feel bad, we hit the water at 5;30 am, fished till 1;30 pm and not one hit, we used everything we could find, and believe me I have a lot........... started with dodger and pink hochie on one rig and white dodger and orange hochie on the other, this went on all morning, ended up with silver dodger ( used 3 different sizes) and pink yarn on bare hooks , and everthing inbetween....... not one hit, speeds from .5 to 1.6. I have fished here for years and never had such a dry spell.... that being said I saw many boats with doubles and lots inbetween. however many boats like me had not one hit............ oh wellllllll always the next day................................

Fished it this morning. Most I saw were using a pink glow mini squid that I heard STS did an article on. we were using a double red hook setup with a little flash tied to the top hook and a small chunk of shrimp only on the top hook. Trolled 17' to 20' down about 2.5 to 3 mph. We limited with 18 in just over 2.5 hrs.
Good luck.

I forgot to include the single O silver dodger with about 20" of leader.

Im thinking about heading up there tomorrow morning to try at it again. Should I use shrimp again or switch it up?

You want to be fishing by 5:30 the bite can be over by 7 and if you see fish cough t work that are fish against the flow and very slowly at 15 to 20 feet deep
