This was a trip last year but I couldn't help myself, it was this same day and I just found these pics so I am posting them now. Mainly to show what we used and to show that winter months aren't the only time these big boys are caught. I watched a guy fly fishing in a float tube for a few hours pulling in trout after trout and he was kind enough to fill me in on the fly he was using. I tied up a few that would replicate what he was using and went out there with my good friend. We fished near the first set of pens from the Grove in about 30ft of water, casting upstream and jigging down towards the bottom. We caught a lot of fish that day but these were the ones we kept: 18lb, 14lb, 10lb and a 8lb. We had smoked fish for weeks! I wish I could post more pics of this trip... I encourage you to tie one of these up and give it a shot but if you get a big one please let me know, as I am still learning that fishery, that's all I ask. Thanks for looking and I would appreciate any tips that others have found to work in their favor.

Were you jigging with a fly rod? Those are solid fish! I was there a month or so ago and landed a 5-6lb native (not the mutants that you normally catch) rainbow on marshmallows and worms from the bank - she was really beautiful. I know it's been slower this year from what I've heard. I'd love to give that jig/fly a shot though.

Are the body materials olive dyed elk or deer for the tail, orange yarn rapped body, and one or two palmered olive dyed pheasant feathers? On a 1/4oz jighead? Totally stabbing in the dark here. Body could be dubbed.

1/4oz, on heavy Mustad hook, brown strung marabou for tail, wound with Claret color Mohair Yarn then wrapped back with brown Saddle Hackle. Pretty much a lead headed woolly bugger, representing an egg sucking leech fished from a spinning rod, if using a fly rod just use an egg sucking leech with sinking line and work it real slow. They can't spawn right, so does anyone know if they stock that Rufus on a regular basis?
