Got a late start, and reached the lake at 9:30. Hunting season has reopened there, saw some bewildered fawns on the road, but no adult deer. Caught an average 14 incher right away, then waited for half an hour for the second one, a 19 inch scrapper. I fish with real light gear, so had quite a time with the big one as he took the scenic route to the beach. It toured the whole bay. Rained the whole time I was there, and slight, but steady wind. Had no bites after 10:30, so went home a little after 11:00.

What beach were you fishing? Were they out deeper, or up in the shallows? Thanks for posting.

Them are two nice fish, thanks for the report. Your reel looks like an old Mitchell 300, is that what it is? I always liked how smooth they operated and I believe I still have about three of them out in the garage somewhere.

The 300 was my first reel and I still have a few. Great reels. Nice catch!

Actually, the reel is a 310UL, with 4 pound line. I have several Mitchell's also, they are nice to use, and I don't have to learn anything new to operate. Kevinbe, it's about 5 miles downstream from the confluence. If you or anyone would like to go, during the week, I always appreciate company.

I hope to get out early tomorrow. Anyone know how the fishing is by Kettle? Should I just stay closer to Spokane?
