the fishing was good. Sounds like the flies ares still the ticket. We are hoping to get over that way in a month or so, but in the meantime I will be doing some fly fishing I hope over here at Coldwater Lake by Mt. St. Helens for rainbows, cut-bows, and some native cuththroat if there isn't too much snow up there and the road is open. Tight lines to you.

I can only speak for myself and don't want this to come across as arrogant, but we had 25 fish for 5 guys (each person caught their limit) and we kept 13. Every one of our fish was caught using a Kekeda fly, we didn't even have any plugs out. For us the ticket has been an orange or an orange/black Kekeda fly. We've had some good success with pink, perch, and olive as well. Just wanted to pass on what has been working for us. Hopefully the next time out will be the day for you. Good luck to you, Dave

12/4/2014 7:39:00 AMOceanLord26 Any time you would like to join me I will show you how to boat 40 fish. We did it again yesterday all on DEEP diving crank baits. I will admit I did not count every fish on my fingers and toes because I don't have that many. Lost count when we went over 20 fish. We launched at Gifford and fished to Hunters. Most of the fish were caught about a mile north of Hunters on the east shore. They seemed to be hanging close to shore too. I love these sights were people can call you a liar and not have to look you in the eye. Color did not seem to matter yesterday as we had success on every color. Same speed around 2.5 mph with flat lines 100 feet behind the boat. All fish were caught and released.

12/4/2014 7:50:00 AMI'll echo Dave's comment, orange/black has been the most effective color on my recent outings too. My last outing a perch pattern Rip'n Minnow only caught two, my last two, of my limit. My fishing buddy put all of his in the cooler using a muddler. Nice report!
Not implying anything, so please don't take it wrong, but want to add this for any and all who might read these Roosevelt reports: Please remember ALL trout count toward your daily limit when using bait, whether kept or released. You can only C&R one daily trout limit (5 rainbow at Roosevelt, kokanee ARE excluded) when trout fishing with bait. One reason I will sometimes drag plugs with no bait or scent, can C&R until the cows come home or I decide to put a limit in the cooler. :-)

12/4/2014 9:35:00 AMMany times lake levels affect the fishing. I looked online at Roosevelt lake levels and noticed in the past 2 weeks the water has been up and down but not at any consistent level. If that's the case, 7 fish are great!

12/4/2014 9:36:00 AMNot calling anybody anything - just making an observation. Called Washington Fish and Game and they are checking on it for me. Thanks for the heads up. By the way, two people in the boat so wasn't over any limit. Should have been more specific but thanks anyway. Page 93 and page 17 in the WDFW regs apply to Lake Roosevelt.

12/4/2014 2:38:00 PMLake Roosevelt has been you cant release any trout if your using bait or scent. If all you do is troll plugs with no scent then you can catch and release all day.. Just my two cents lol I fish it all the time and its been that way for years. If you use worms or Berkley gulp worms or R Fly on your fly's you have to keep the first five you catch per person then your done trout fishing for the day. Funny cause we go over this every year out here LOL.. Hewesfisher is correct...

Anyway, I don't know anyone who stretches the truth about their luck...all fisherman are honest about their success and technique. That said, I will freely admit that I once pulled a hurking big sucker out of Roosevelt up by Wilmont Cove and tried to sell my wife on the idea it was a prairie salmon. She didn't buy it.
