Long time friend-co-worker-and Northwest Fishing Report member Elderhappy ( Gary ) called me and said he needed a day off and was going fishing, so naturally I had to go along and keep him company. We started off from Porcupine Bay at daylight and once again we were on the fish quickly. Gary was using leaded line out 3 colors and his home made multi colored flies he always uses with mostly great results along with a dodger. I was using mono out 160 ft. with mostly a pink modified muddler style fly, and a sling blade in pink. Speed was around 1.7 mph. The sun was warm with some wind off and on, and the fog getting there was pretty thick. Great day for fishing for sure, Thanks Gary for asking me to go along. The next time out is in my boat. Oh forgot to mention the fish, I think 6 of them were 17" and 4 were 14", the 17"inch ones being so fat and thick you could hardly get your hand around them to get the hook out, beautiful fish. Also the fish would not stay hooked very long, we lost probably twice what we caught.

Good grief I'm drooling all over myself over here. Those are some real sweet fish. Way to go! Thanks for the report. Denny

Ron;
It was really great to spend the day with you "in a boat fishing". It had been way to long for me. As usual those were really nice fish.
Looking forward to a winter of great fishing.

That big rainbow in the first pic looks like a whole lot bigger than 17", reminds me of the 6+lb Rufus Woods Triploids we caught a few years ago! Sounds like you guys had a great day! :-)

Hewesfisher -- That first fish in the picture was actually closer to 18" but for ease of reporting I just called it 17". Speaking of Rufus Woods, what about that monster rainbow Don Talbot had in his report, and " WOW " one nice picture. Our largest for Rufus has been at 8 pounds and also a native, but years ago also.

Hey, nice that you went fishing. But where was the call to me, oh yeah when you fish out of Gary's boat there isn't room for three people because of all the STUFF he takes with him. Nice fish brother. I went down to the place I keep my boat and put it under cover today. It fits nicely. Talk to you latter.
