CF and I headed to Keller Ferry this AM with an inch of overnight snow on the roads and intermittent spitting the entire way. I resisted my innate urge to go fast and it took an extra 20-30 minutes for our drive up. We safely made it to the launch parking lot and while turning above the launch to position my boat my truck started sliding sideways. We both froze as the truck closed in on the concrete supported launch fee box. We both sighed in relief when we stopped 3 feet short of vehicle destroyer. After ready in the boat we cautiously backed down the ramp with only 1 minor slide. 4 lines stacked on the DRs by 8:15.

We offered pink and orange flies and hoochies between 12-22 FOW, 1.7 MPH, water temp 45. Hoochies especially orange was the preferred choice. We caught fish 3 of the 5 hours ending up with 7 Kokes in the 16-18 inch range and 20 RBT 12-16 inches. The RBT were all without much fight today and obviously we did not entice any carry over fish. The Kokes were all aerial and full of fight. It was strange how we caught fish in spurts then nothing even when we went right back to an area after catching. We kept 4 Kokes and a couple of trout before calling it a day. We were thrilled to see the launch plowed and completely free of snow as we came in. The plow was still working on the lot as we left. We saw only a single other boat the entire day that had launched elsewhere. The roads were completely snow free for the ride home which was greatly appreciated. It was another great day on the water to end a great year of fishing with CF.

fishindoc: Thanks for the nice report. You're making it awfully hard to wait till the 4th to come over there. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the report and glad you made it without crunching the rig. Making me wish I had pulled the trigger and gone down. Got a brand new net and a new reel that need to be bloodied. See you have had some luck with the Mack's 44 dodger. Was wondering if you use that regularly. I have some in different colors, one just like yours and I never do much good with them. I have much better luck with the Les Davis and the shape is almost identical. Maybe I have just never had the right Mack's in the right color at the right time, who knows.

We use the Mack's 44 Dodger mainly because it theoretically pulls one of the stacked lines to the side to minimize lines fouling when the bottom rig has a fish on. I am not convinced it helps. I am not much of a dodger/blade expert and switch to another type if a particular one gets ignored.

Amen to not being an expert, I seem to buy something new every time I wind up at the White Elephant. Lots of sling blades and some others but the Les Davis in gold/chrome seems to produce the most so far.
Keep after them.

Thanks for the info on the Les Davisblade Part-Time. Are there multiple sizes?

Do you get an alert when someone tack a comment on to your post? Seems like I used to but since I build a new computer and went to windows 7 id don't anymore, any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I have an alert set for any new reports on Lower Roosevelt and that works but I have to check my posts to see if there are any comments.
On the Herring Dodgers I have the 3/0 and they 0/0. No really idea what these sixes mean but the 0/0 is the bigger of the two.
