After my parents dropped several hints I finally realized they wanted to get in on some summer salmon action, and yesterday we found some time to make it happen. It was evident right away that the "Brewster Pool" is holding a lot of Chinook right now. Fish were breaking the surface just about every where I looked, and the hummingbird also confirmed that there were a lot of fish hanging around.

The bite at first light was pretty decent. We witnessed a dozen fish get caught right away in the morning. We were rewarded with an 18 pound king right away which made my folks very happy. We ended coming home with several sockeye, two jacks, a hatchery adult, and the enjoyment of fighting and releasing two wild adults plus two more that didn't make it to the boat.

With the large number of fish in the pool, the derby this year should be a good one. All of our bites were between 18-24' all on Brad's superbaits. I found 1.8 mph to be most effective. These fish should continue to hold in "the pool" as long as the weather remains hot.
