I was looking out the living room widow as the rain poured down, and even at that the fall colors in Hell's Canyon are something to behold, can see the reflection in the Snake River, which is like glass right now, so beautiful. Anyway, I started thinking about some Channel Catfish that we catch sometimes when steelheading, some days we will catch five or six in one particular location. They average around five pounds, with the largest in the eight pound range, but when fishing other runs we seldom catch one. These things hit like a ton of bricks most of the time, they put up a good fight for about five minutes, and then give up, we usually keep a couple, carve the fat off them, then Barb marinates them in a milk solutiotion, when cooked they are absolutely delicious, pure white meat, without any strong fishey taste. I was thinking that this might be pretty interesting for any of you that are planning a trip to the canyon. I listed Steelhead as the target species, that is always our target, these are just another bonus.

Yes indeed, I catch those up above in the Brownlee, a fast way to fill your freezer with great eatin meat. I have found that in the Snake they just don't taste as strong as anywheres else so I don't worry much about soaking em in milk. Another trick in taming the off taste of fish or fowl is soaking over night in water with a teaspoon of baking soda.. Good on you guys, thanks for sharing, love your photos!
