My coworker and I went above the Ice Harbor Dam and fished from shore for steelhead yesterday morning. We got to fishing at around 7 in the morning, at first I was using eggs and he was using dyed shrimp. We were bobber fishing and there were a large amount of small fish jumping around. Those little bait robbers kept taking my eggs so I switched up to the shrimp too. We didn't get any solid take downs until about 8:30-9. I got one first at around 8:30 AM but I missed it when my coworker and me were talking. Then around 9 I saw he was getting nibbled at, he thought at first it was one of the smaller fish by how it was biting. I told him he was getting a bite while we were talking so then he paid attention, waited for it to take it under and set the hook, not very good since he thought it was one of the small fish. Then he started bringing it in then it started taking some line to the side and found out it was a steelie, it jumped a couple times and when he was almost about to bring it in it gave a last jump and off it went. It was around 5-6lbs. We left around 10 because he had to go somewhere. I'll probably be back there to try it out later this week after work, it was my first time fishing the eastside for steelies.
