6/15/2017 1:20:11 PMSounds like a perfect day. I kept a couple cutts from Lake Sammamish to see what they were eating (and of course my dinner!). They were stuffed with smolts too.

6/15/2017 1:39:16 PMHi Ben, good to here from you. Glad Lk Sammamish is treating you well. The smolts in Lk Sammamish seem to be much bigger than Lk Washington. Dont know why, just is what it is. Tight lines! Randy

6/15/2017 1:52:02 PMNot that i think it makes a difference but according to the rule book putting scent on your lure counts as bait. Seems silly that a hard body lure can be counted as bait just because a drop of scent but them the rules.

6/15/2017 3:55:28 PMDang that rule is well hidden. Finally found a little clarification under bait definitions. Bait is " anything that attracts fish or shellfish by scent and or flavor" Fish can still be released but they count towards your limit. Criminy!!! And to make it even worse, under definitions salmon (kokanee) count as part of your limit. I'm sure I must have exaggerated the number of fish caught. Pretty sure it was only one kokanee.

6/15/2017 8:14:27 PMSo in checking the regs couldn't fine where it states that kokanee are part of the trout limit. Maybe someone can steer me there so I don't give some bad info to anyone this Saturday that we are fishing with as I thought it was seperate limits! Thanks!

6/15/2017 9:13:23 PMHay salmonbarry, as incredible as this may sound see page 11 definitions, Kokanee definition and Landlocked Salmon Rules, "anglers combined catch of salmon and trout applies toward the trout limit". I cant find anything that says what the Landlocked Salmon Rules are or what lakes they are applicable too. So my take is better safe than sorry. If Landlocked rules dont apply then I assume the catch limit on Lk Washington would be 5 trout and 5 kokanee because under Lk Wash rules page 82, other games fish limit is 5. If anybody knows anything I am all ears. Prob an email to WDFW could clear this up cause I sure have no clue.

6/15/2017 11:57:51 PMUnder the genral rules theres 2 game fish sections "other" and trout. The top half is orange/white, those are the "other" game fish. The bottom half is trout, which includes kokes.
So genral rules gives you 5 trout (including kokes) in any combo. If the lake has the landlock rules (kokes dont count for a landlocked salmon) it will state that in the special section for each individual lake.
Look at the rules for lake stevens, it states a seperate limit for kokes from the trout. Lake washington does not, so you follow the genral rules. Any lake with kokes seperate from the trout limit will state it in the special rules, otherwise they are combined.
Hopefully that wasnt to confusing.

6/16/2017 5:18:41 AMOk great thanks for clearing that up! I know on Chelan the don't count but that is a 10 koke limit fishery like Stevens so we will stay with the combo limit of 5 only for both! Thanks guys!
