The now 4th annual fishing trip for my two sons and I has now come and gone. We spent 6 days of dedicated fishing searching for the sometimes elusive Potholes Walleyes. We only fish the lake for one trip per year and the lake is different each time in regards to the dunes. What I mean when I say dedicated fishing, is everyday for 6 days our schedule was fish 4am to 11am then in for brunch and a nap and the back on the water from 6-9.pm. The reason for this schedule is that I have always done best for Potholes walleyes in the morning plus that is also when the weather is the most bearable. Day 1 June 22nd we arrived from the West side after some horrendous traffic and only had a couple hours to fish, we ended up with 2 walleyes ranging from 17-22 inches and 3 catfish/bullhead. Day 2 June 23rd was amazing, 12 total walleye from 16-26 inches 5 catfish/bullhead 1 perch, 1 crappie and a 26 inch trout. Day 3 June 24th it slowed for us, 4 walleye, 7 catfish/bullhead and 1 perch in the morning and then fished Lind Coulee in the evening with no luck. Day 4 Sunday June 25th, the walleye were elusive, 11 hours of fishing and no walleye but we were able to master our drop shot technique around the island for smallmouth with the largest being 3 1/2 lbs and at least 10 in the 1-2 lb range also picked up a few more catfish and a nice big trout. Day 5 Monday June 26th the lake finally calmed down from the weekend and we were able to get 8 walleye, 6 catfish/bullheads, 2 perch and 1 crappie. Day 6 June 27th we picked up 5 walleye in the morning and 3 in the evening with a bonus rainbow and 7 catfish/bullheads. Day 7 June 28th we picked up 4 walleye, 1crappie, 1 big rainbow, 1 carp and a mixed bag of largemouth and smallmouth bass. I'm the end we closed out with 38 walleye some photographed and released to continue the fishery and others went in the livewell. All fish with the exception of dropshotting for bass were caught on bottom walkers with either orange firetiger Wallypops or super slow death rigs with orange firetiger smile blades in 10-13 feet of water in crab creek. Don't be afraid to venture outside the channel. All in all an excellent week of fishing and lifelong memories with my sons.

A week of fishing with your boys is a 5 rating no matter if it's no fish or 50 fish. Great job dad.

Great job Dad......!!!
My daughter is in her 40's and nothing in this world feels as awesome as when she reminds me of one of our fishing adventures.....!!
Yes, she is a typical fisherperson (she laughs) .....The fish get bigger, the water colder, it get deeper and it took hours to land the fish......
Its those moments that you realize that all your efforts have made a positive impact.....!!!!

Thanks b8nwa8! This is all a ploy to get them obsessed with fishing like their dad so when I am to old to go on my own I will have someone to take me!
